Biography

I am a Teaching Associate in Medieval and Early Modern History at the University of Nottingham. I teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and in March 2018 I won the University of Nottingham Postgraduate Teaching Assistant Award.

Prior to this, I completed my PhD at the University of Nottingham, working on a thesis entitled 'The Household Knights of Edward III in War and Peace, 1327-1377' . My investigation of these men and the duties they performed allowed me to demonstrate how important they were in raising royal armies, leading troops in war and acting as favourable advocates of royal policy both in parliament and in England’s localities. In turn, I offered a number of crucial reinterpretations of how war was fought and England ruled in the later Middle Ages.

Previously, I studied for my undergraduate degree at Nottingham Trent University and my masters at the University of Nottingham.
