Biography

Frederic Heymes is professor at IMT Mines Ales (France) and head of the Physics of Phenomena research team. He achieved his master thesis at Laval University (Canada) in fluid dynamics and completed his PhD in chemical engineering at Montpellier University (2005). Since 15 years, he is working on accidental phenomena physics in order to better understand the mechanisms and consequences. His main topics are BLEVE (boiling liquid vapour explosion), VCE (vapour cloud explosions), fire, atmospheric dispersion and pool evaporation. He is an expert in large scale and dangerous testing. He is the coordinator of the Spark experimental facility.
