Biography

I study bacterial cell-to-cell communication called quorum sensing (QS) and ways to stop QS (quorum quenching). My research is also on searching of natural products that show anti-QS. I am also active in using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to study whole genomes of microorganisms, organelles genomes (chloroplast, mitochondria), parasite genomes, and human genomes. I also work on metagenome and microbiome. I use molecular techniques and NGS to study bacteria systematics and reported several novel bacteria genus and species. I also specialise in biosafety law, risk assessment and intellectual property law on biotechnology.
