Biography

Francisco Vergara Perucich currently works as a researcher in Critical Urban Theory and the Social Production of Space at Universidad de Las Américas (Chile) and directs the research project named 'Los Arenales City as a complex project: towards a grounded theory of informal urbanism' (FONDECYT 11180569). From July '19, he has taken the position as director of Centre of Production of Space (producciondelespacio.org), a research cluster in Universidad de Las Américas investigating urban economy, critical urbanisms and socio-spatial practices. The CPE uses the intellectual oeuvre of Henri Lefebvre and other marxists and neo-marxist approaches s the main theoretical framework for its investigations; to deliver outcomes searching for spatial justice, illuminating contradictions in urban life.
