Biography

I am Associate Professor of Numerical Analysis at Politecnico di Milano and a member of the Mathematics Department of Politecnico since 2004. I have graduated in Mathematics cum laude at Sapienza University of Rome in 1989 and received my PhD in Mathematics from University of Trento, Italy in 1994. I have worked at University of Trento, Deutscher Wetterdienst and Max Planck Institute for Meteorology Hamburg, as well as being visiting scientist at several research institutions and universities and the recipient of a Marie Curie TMR grant. I have been awarded the Italian national habilitation as full professor in Numerical Analysis in 2017. My research work until 2024 has been devoted to the development of accurate and efficient numerical methods for a number of computational problems, with special focus on adaptive DG methods for numerical weather prediction. I am presently going back to more theoretical analyses of fluid flow model, dynamical systems and stochastic processes.
