Biography

Paulo Eduardo Maciel de Almeida completed his Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo in 2002. Between 2013/2014, he completed a postdoctoral training at the Smart Traffic Research Center (STRC) of QUT / Brisbane, Australia, as a senior fellow funded by CAPES. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Computing (DECOM) of the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG). Prof. Almeida published 33 articles in international specialized journals and 107 papers in scientific events. He has 12 chapters of books published. He chaired a regional scientific event in 2006. He attended 20 events abroad and 27 in Brazil. He directed 3 doctoral thesis, 23 master's dissertations and co-coordinated 7, in addition to having guided 15 scientific initiation works and 5 course completion works in the areas of computer science, electrical engineering and production engineering. He has received 3 IEEE international awards and 2 national CAPES awards. Between 1998 and 2003, he coordinated two research projects. Between 2003 and 2007, he participated in further 2 and currently participates in 6 research projects, and coordinates 3 of these. Prof. Almeida works in the areas of electrical engineering and computing, with emphasis on electronic automation of industrial processes and intelligent systems. In his professional activities, he interacted with 38 collaborators in co-authoring of scientific works. In his curriculum, the most frequent terms in the contextualization of scientific and technological production are: computational intelligence, fuzzy logic, process control, intelligent automation, artificial neural networks, CMAC, process modeling, system identification and optimization.
