Biography

Dr Evanthia Chatzoglou is a Biologist (BSc 1992) with postgraduate studies in Molecular Biology, PhD 1999, University of Athens, AFM (Association Française contre les Myopathies) scholarship for post-doctoral researcher in Inserm, Unite 523, State Scholarship Foundation (SSC), postdoctoral research University of Athens, Division of Social Medicine, Psychiatry and Molecular Physiology, postdoctoral research University of Athens, Division of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2014-present, University research associate at the Agricultural University of Athens, Laboratory of Applied Hydrobiology and EU‐CONEXUS-European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability, participating in several national and European research projects. She is Responsible for Quality Assurance in the Laboratory accredited by ISO EN 17025. Her research interests focus on: development of methodologies related to fish quality and welfare, including gene regulation, structural and functional analysis of nucleic acids, gene analysis, detection of mutations and polymorphisms, detection of toxic substances and of pathogens in fish products. She is familiar with techniques (ELISA, PCR and qRT-PCR, Gas Chromatography, HPLC, Soxhlet, Kjeldahl, spectrophotometry, texture analysis, DNA & RNA cloning and sequencing), that are used to determine parameters for gene identification and gene expression, fish quality assessments: proximate composition of fish and fish feed.
