Biography
Professor Wang received his bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from Fudan University in China. He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University - Bloomington. Following his doctoral studies, Prof. Wang was a postdoctoral fellow/Courant Instructor at the Courant Institute before joining Iowa State University, where he was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure. He later moved to Florida State University in the early 2000s, where he held the position of Tenured Professor in the Department of Mathematics. In 2017, Prof. Wang became a Distinguished Professor at his alma mater, and a Chair Professor at Southern University of Science and Technology in 2018. In late 2022, he joined Missouri S&T as the inaugural Havener Endowed Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He is currently a Chair Professor of Mathematics at Eastern Institute of Technology.
Currently, Dr. Wang's research focuses on modern applied mathematics, with special emphasis on problems related to fluid dynamics, groundwater research, geophysical fluid dynamics, turbulence, and climate change. He effectively employs tools from Partial Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems, Stochastic Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, and Machine Learning in his research. His work stands out for its combination of rigorous mathematics and real-world physical applications.
