Biography Harald Rösner
Harald obtained his diploma in physics in 1992 and completed his Ph.D. in the same field in 1996 at Münster University, under the guidance of Eckhard Nembach. During his graduate studies, he conducted research on in-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) at the CEMES-CNRS in Toulouse, collaborating with Daniel Caillard from 1992 to 1994. Following a post-doctoral position with Peter Schloßmacher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 1997 to 2000, he transitioned to the Institute of Nanotechnology, where he worked on nanocrystalline materials with Herbert Gleiter and Horst Hahn from 2001 to 2007.
In 2008, Harald joined Gerhard Wilde at Münster University, assuming roles as a lecturer and the manager of the electron microscopy (EM) facility. His research primarily focuses on material characterization, particularly in identifying defects, utilizing various TEM techniques such as conventional TEM, high-resolution TEM, tomography, HAADF-STEM, and diverse in-situ methods. Recently, Harald has been investigating deformation in disordered materials like bulk metallic glasses and has innovated a novel approach to quantitatively analyze shear bands using HAADF-STEM intensities.
