Biography

Biography:

Prof. Sayed M. Saleh is a distinguished scholar and researcher in chemical sensing. Nanomaterials, environmental chemistry, fluorescence, and water treatment. He obtained his doctoral degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Regensburg, Germany, in 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Otto S. Wolfbeis. His doctoral research focused on developing and applying optical sensors and upconverting luminescent nanoparticles for various purposes, such as bioconjugation, bioimaging, carbon dioxide detection, and pH measurement.

After he graduated, he worked as a postdoc researcher at the University of Turku, Finland, in Prof. Tero Soukka's bionanotechnology group. He then joined the Chemistry Department of the College of Science at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia, as an associate professor in 2016. He is also affiliated with Suez University, Egypt. He has published over 85 papers in prestigious journals and conferences and has received more than 2700 citations. He is also a member of the MATS Project, a European Union-funded project aiming to develop multipurpose thermodynamic solar applications.

Prof. Sayed M. Saleh is an active and innovative scientist who constantly explores new frontiers in his field. He has contributed to synthesizing, characterizing, and applying various nanomaterials, such as gold nanoclusters, silica nanoparticles, carbon nanofibers, and metal oxide composites, for sensing, catalysis, and adsorption. He has also developed novel fluorescent probes and chameleon labels for biomolecules, peptides, and amines. Using his nanotechnology and analytical chemistry expertise, he is interested in solving environmental problems like water pollution, heavy metal removal, and pesticide detection. He is a respected and influential figure in his academic community and a role model for young and aspiring chemists.

In addition, Prof. Sayed M. Saleh is listed by Stanford University as one of the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists for the years 2021–2024 (last four years). This remarkable achievement reflects his high impact and recognition in his field. He is among the few scientists maintaining this status for three consecutive years, demonstrating his consistent excellence and productivity. He inspires his peers and students and is a source of pride for his institution and country.

Objective:
1. Working on research projects for water treatment and environmental science
2. Continue research activities by joining several scientific projects.
3. Working as a specialist in nanotechnology (syntheses, characterization, and
applications), optical chemical sensing, and environmental applications.
