Biography
Prof. Dr. Michael Ahlers studied music education, musicology and German. He also ran a company for music and media production in Hamburg. After finishing his PhD he worked as a junior lecturer on popular music and media studies at the University of Paderborn. In 2010 he became Professor of Digital Music Education at the University of Augsburg, Bavaria. In 2012 he became Professor of music education and popular music in Lueneburg. His current research activities include collaborative creative strategies, music production, musical interfaces and musical literacy, as well as research on empirical music education, and popular music studies.
Prof. Ahlers currently is member of the Faculty board, co-managing director of the Institute of Fine Arts, Music and Education, and program co-leader of Popular Music Studies.
