Biography
Dr. Sajan completed his Master’s degree in Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation from North Orissa University and Doctoral degree from Saurashtra University in Wildlife Science with affiliation to Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. Later, he received a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Malacology Division of the Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata under Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. He has more than 10 years of research experience in the field of Biodiversity Conservation, Wildlife Science and Malacology. He has published more than 50 Research papers in different National and International periodicals, and also published 11 chapters, four books including a monograph. He discovered and described three new species of molluscs and two new spiders from India and added more than 10 new records of mollusks to the Indian Fauna. He is reviewer for various National and International Peer-reviewed journals such as Biodiversity Data Journal, Journal of Natural History, Molluscan Research, Folia Malacologica, Biological Invasions, and Records of the Zoological Survey of India etc. He is a member of IUCN/Species Survival Commission (SSC) Horseshoe Crabs and IUCN/SSC Asian Horseshoe Crab Working Group. He is a recipient of travel grant to present his finding in 4th International Workshop on the Science and Conservation of Horseshoe Crabs, Qinzhou & Beihai, Guangxi, China and received grant to attending International Biogeography Meet organized by the International Biogeography Society and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He has also participated in various training programmes and presented papers at various National and International Conferences. He has selected as Resource person and trainer for Green Skill Development Programme under the scheme of MoEF&CC, GOI organized by Botanical Survey of India and Zoological Survey of India at Central Regional Centre Allahabad, BSI Allahabad, and at Sikkim Himalayan Regional Centre, Botanical Survey of India, Gangtok. He is actively engaged as curator of molluscs in iNaturalist, an online citizen science portal.
