Biography

Obtained his B. Sc. and M.Sc. from Alexandria University; Egypt (with degree of Honor.), and his Ph.D. from IIT, Chicago, IL.USA in 1988; all in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Abbasy worked at Clarkson University, New York, USA (1988-1989) and at PAAET, Kuwait (1994-2009). Dr. Abbasy has been with the EE department, Alexandria University, Egypt during 1989-1994 and from 2009 until now, where he is currently an Emeritus Professor at Alexandria University, Egypt. Dr. Abbasy research interests include monitoring and protection of microgrids, smart grids and modern energy management systems. Dr. Abbasy is a senior IEEE member, Editor of IEEE TSG, and an A. Editor of MPCE journal. He served as an x-chairman for the EE department and the executive manager of the Specialized Scientific Programs at AU. Dr. Abbasy has authored and coauthored more than 100conference and journal papers.
