Biography

My research focuses on theoretical and numerical aspects of multi-physical mechanical processes across different length scales. The goal of my research is to advance our understanding on multiphase materials and enhance predictive capabilities for the related applications in geotechnical and energy resource engineering, including geological carbon sequestration, hydraulic fracture, soil liquefaction and hydrogen embrittlement in metals. My work is highly collaborative and encompasses computational solid and fluid mechanics, interfacial modeling via level sets, graph theory, geometrical analysis of tomographic images, spatial and temporal multi-scale methods and combined deterministic-stochastic finite element analysis. Specialties: computational mechanics, multi-scale modeling, geomechanics, poromechanics, geotechnical earthquake engineering, finite element/lattice Boltzmann analysis, hydrogen embrittlement.
