Biography
Xavier Pueyo (1954) received a PhD in Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain, in 1986 and the degree of Docteur Ingénieur in Computer Sciences from Université de Rennes I, France, in 1984. He is a retired emeritus professor of Computer Sciences at the Universitat de Girona (UdG), Spain, since 1996. He previously was an Associate Professor at UPC and UdG. He has been the dean of the School of Technology of the UdG (2000-2004) and he founded the Institut d’Informàtica i Aplicacions (IIiA) of this university. Currently he is the director of the ViRVIG Research Center (joint research unit federating Computer Graphics Groups of UPC and UdG). His teaching activity includes Programming and Computer Graphics for engineers and Digital Cultural Heritage for students of humanities. His research interest has included Computer Graphics in large, in particular visibility computation, realistic image synthesis, light transport simulation and surface ageing. Currently, his work focuses on the analysis and simulation of weathered cultural heritage, digital restoration urban models simplification.
Xavier Pueyo is a Fellow Member of the Eurographics Association since 2000. He has chaired the Rendering Working Group, the Workshops and Working Groups Board and the Spanish Chapter of Eurographics. He has served as a member of research and teaching evaluation committees as well as of recruitment boards for institutions of several European countries. He has been an invited lecturer at TU Wien (1994), Université de Limoges (1994,2007,2008) and INSA-Rennes (2008,2009) and invited researcher at INRIA-Rennes (1989-1990). He has also given lectures for graduate students at several Spanish universities.
