Biography
Christopher Mutai,ph.D,is a strategic expert and scholar in Disaster Management and Humanitarianism with areas of research interest revolving around education, health,population,urbanization,health and well being, My researches aim at addressing risks bedeviling vulnerable populations especially drug and substance among the youth,rural folk,the marginalized and the deprived in the Horn of Africa and the Great lakes region.His scholarly endevours are all about teaching, mentoring and researching on problems afflicting the vulnerable especially HIV and AIDS and Drug Abuse among the youth as evident in the latest publications. Christopher holds both an M.Sc and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology(MMUST) and a Bachelor of Education(Arts) degree from Moi University(MU) both in Kenya. I am a trained teacher registered with Teachers Service Commission and a Deputy Principal who teach English and Literature in English at Ndurio Secondary school in Nandi County, Kenya and where as double up as an Athletics Coach.
He was awarded a certificate of commendation in recognition of meritorious service rendered to the Kenya National Examinations Council as Examiner in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) marking activities for over five years. This is a testimony of my dedication and unique contribution to the maintenance of professional standards as an examiner of national examinations of the Republic of Kenya.
He teaches Disaster Management, Humanitarian Assistance, Peace and Conflict, International Diplomacy as well as HIV and AIDS Prevention and Management in MMUST.He is also an Online Course Instructor and Content Developer in the said university. Christopher has just completed an Online Course on Health and Migration; co-facilitated by Center for Health and Migration (Austria) and Makerere University (Uganda) in conjuction with a number of sponsors.He has been able to design papers on Psychosocial Health among the urban poor youth in Nairobi’s Informal Settlements, Resilient Cities through Improvement Programmes for the Urban Youth and Leveraging Interactive Technology in Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse among Youth in Slums, Nairobi, Kenya as a remedy to problems highlighted in the previous paper. He has also written papers addressing the question of environmental justice among the people living in wetlands,migration and mobility, African Cities as well as Sustainable governance and Climate Change.Christopher has also attended a course for Addiction professionals on Addiction Counseling and Treatment at Eldoret Polytechnic, Kenya. The training was sponsored by The Kenya Certification & Education Program for Addiction Professionals, U.S Department of State, Bureau for International Narcotics & Law Enforcement Affairs(INL).
