Biography
I am currently a PhD candidate in the Systems Biology program at the University of São Paulo (ICB - USP). In my project, I investigate the role of proteins related to the Trypanosoma cruzi spliceosome, which is responsible for cis- and trans-splicing processes in this parasite. This complex has a fundamental role in the regulation of gene expression in this organism, especially in adapting to the different environments (intra- and extracellular) inhabited by the different parasite life forms throughout its life cycle. During my undergraduate course, I worked on another project in this same laboratory, where the goal was to build a reporter precursor with the GFP gene, to analyze splicing in HEK293T cells and some elements involved in the regulation of this process. I also participated in another project developed in the laboratory, where we investigated the protein composition of the T. cruzi spliceosome complex. In this same department at ICB USP, I received a scholarship from the university to work on a project entitled Atlas of Electronic Microscopy, in which I produced texts and schemes on specific themes of cellular and molecular biology. The content produced is available online, and is eventually used in the undergraduate course in biomedical sciences at the same institution. I also worked in didactic exhibitions and training for high school science and biology teachers, in projects from the university.
