Biography
Ph.D. in Geosciences (Universidade Federal Fluminense - Brazil), with experience in environmental metabarcoding, particularly targeting 16S and 18S rRNA genes, to unravel microbial communities' dynamics. Within this domain, my research delves into microbial ecotoxicology, focusing on identifying microbial indicators of metal pollution and conducting functional prediction and ecological interaction analyses.
Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Environmental Toxicology and Aquatic Ecology (GhEnToxLab, Ghent University - Belgium), I am part of a project aimed at assessing the diversity of eukaryotic microbial communities inhabiting aquatic biofilms exposed to various metal pollutants by Metabarcoding approach. Through this effort, I attempt to unravel the intricate impacts of in situ metal mixtures on microbial community diversity, structure, ecological interactions, and functional dynamics.
