Biography
Eglė Grėbliauskaitė is a socially engaged interdisciplinary artist based in Vilnius, Lithuania, Postdoctoral research fellow and lecturer at Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University | VU TSPMI (since 2022), Associate Professor at the Department of Creative Industries of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University | Vilnius Tech (since 2021), Doctor of Arts (2022), Master of Painting (2015) and Lecturer (since 2016) at Vilnius Academy of Arts, Art Creator of the Republic of Lithuania and Member of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Art Union (since 2016), previously Entrepreneur, Master of Business Administration at The Open University (UK) (MBA, 2001).
Since 2007, participates in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, employs a number of creative forms: installation, sculpture, painting, unconventional means of expression, intuitive theoretical and physical strategies. The artist's projects focus on the cultural and social development of society.
Eglė Grėbliauskaitė’s Postdoctoral Research “Supervising The Artistic Autonomy: Arts And The Cultural Policy In Lithuania” focuses on the issue of valuation in the artistic practice. In 2022, Eglė Grėbliauskaitė defended Doctor of Arts thesis in Visual Arts titled “Sociopsychological Mechanisms of Repression - The Fight for the Value Center, or – In the Maze of Hungry Shadows” which focuses on institutional practices and critique. The main focus of thesis is on relations of cultural institutions and other epistemes, power struggles for the value center among different agents of the art institution and how to position art and culture in contemporary societies.
Since 2015, Eglė Grėbliauskaitė has been combining art and management experience as a lecturer at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and an associate professor of Art at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Vilnius Tech), and teaches Creative Marketing, Fashion Marketing, Interdisciplinary Fashion Research Projects and Interventions into Urban Spaces. In 2017- 2019, Eglė Grėbliauskaitė was a Coordinator of Project Theoretical Seminars & Creative Discussions at VAA, which involved visiting researchers and artists.
Since 2014, Art Director at event production company E: E event engineering, produces and directs scenography, choreography and soundtracks for the largest fashion events of Lithuanian fashion designers.
In 1997-2008, gained management experience in the fast-moving consumer goods market: managed business development, marketing and sales processes at the MGBaltic Group's holding MGBaltic Trade; was a member of the ERP Navision Axapta implementation team responsible for sales and inventory management modules. In 2000, Chairwoman of the Board of Baltic Sales & Marketing Service, a network of retail marketing companies in the Baltic States. In 2006, founded business management and consulting company Opportunity Development Institute, which provides business opportunity and management consulting.
E. Grėbliauskaitė is the founder of social project PATS (2013), which aims to encourage foster graduates to trust their own strength in preparing for life outside the orphanage when they will become truly independent for the first time and at the same time will have to rely solely on themselves.
