Biography
Dr. Ahmed Harb Rabia is an Assistant Professor of Remote Sensing and GIS at Faculty of Agriculture, Damanhour University, Egypt, where he has been since 2013. Also, from 2016 until the present, he is the Director of SPACE center (Sustainable Production and Adaptation to Climate Change Effects Center), at the Faculty of Agriculture, Damanhour University. He has a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing and GIS from the University of Naples "Federico II", Italy. Also, He holds a master’s degree in Soil and Water Science from Alexandria University (2007) and a Bachelor of Science from the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University (2001).
In 2018, he traveled to the USA as a visiting scientist at the University of Georgia (UGA). Currently, he is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Crop Ecophysiology & Precision Agriculture Laboratory at the Plant & Soil Sci. Department, Texas Tech University, Texas, USA. In his research activities, Dr. Rabia is applying the cutting-edge techniques of remote sensing and GIS to advance the precision agriculture practices such as variable rate irrigation (VRI) and variable rate application (VRA) to increase its profitability and sustainability. His fields of interest include soil science, GIS and remote sensing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Impacts of Climate change on soils, land-use change, and climate change modeling. Dr. Rabia has participated in several research projects funded by national and international funding bodies as a team member and later as a principal investigator (PI). Dr. Rabia has participated in several research projects funded by national and international funding bodies as a team member and later as a principal investigator (PI). His most recent research project was titled “Remote Sensing of Crop Evapotranspiration Using Energy Balance Models for Enhanced Precision Agriculture Cotton Irrigation Scheduling” funded by Georgia Cotton Commission. He has published more than 35 publications in different peer-review journals and international conferences. In addition, he has published 3 scientific books in the fields of plant nutrition and soil science.
In addition to scientific research activities, for the last seventeen years, Dr. Rabia was responsible for teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students in his university and providing day to day advice and supervision for postgraduate students.
