Biography

Georgios completed his undergraduate studies at the National Technical University of Athens Greece, with a Major in Applied Physics in 2004. In September of 2005 he completed the MSc in Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices at the University of St Andrews and Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, UK, with distinction. He then joined the Organic Semiconductor Optoelectronics group at the University of St Andrews for his PhD on organic semiconductor lasers. In 2009 he became a research fellow in the same group working on UV-nanoimprint lithography for organic semiconductor lasers as part of the HYPIX project. In October 2011 Georgios joined the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing at the University of Adelaide in Australia as an ARC Super Science fellow to work on detection of trace quantities of explosives, combining microstructured optical fibers with fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy.

In November 2014 Georgios joined the ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) Adelaide node as a Research Fellow, working on using optical spectroscopy for in-blood vitamin detection and monitoring and cell-line differentiation.

Georgios is a Research Theme Leader for Chemical and Radiation Sensing within IPAS.
