Biography
Sónia Pedro Sebastião is Full Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Science (ISCSP - ULisboa), teaching Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Public Relations courses since the year 2001. In 2019, she had obtained her habilitation ("agregação") in Strategic Communication, presenting a class about clipping as a tool for media relations and strategic communication (research and evaluation technique). She finished her PhD in Social Sciences (Communication Sciences) in 2008 about the Portuguese identity and mythology. She has published in Portugal her master thesis about the Swiss Political System (2005) and her PhD Thesis (2012); two textbooks of Public Relations theory and practice (Comunicação Estratégica – As Relações Públicas - 2009; Comunicação Estratégica na Relação com os media - 2021), a textbook about Contemporary Culture (Cultura Contemporânea Contributos para os estudos Culturais, Mediáticos e Digitais - 2012), a textbook about Integrated Communications (Fundamentos de Comunicação Integrada Organizacional e de Marketing - 2015) and is the coauthor of six collective books (Marketing para Estudantes de Comunicação; Portugal Destino a Comunicar, both in 2012; CPLP - 2016; CPLP Cidadania Vol II. - 2018; Ética em Comunicação - 2019; Diplomacy, Organisations and Citizens: a communication perspective - Springer, 2022). Her main research interests are related to Strategic Communication; Citizenship and Participation; and sustainability.
She is a member of the Portuguese centre of investigation: CAPP/FCT – Centre for Public Administration & Policies [http://capp.iscsp.utl.pt/], accredited by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology as Excellent. She is also an associated member of EUPRERA (European Public Relations Education and Research Association) and SOPCOM (Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences).
