Biography

Keivan Navaie is a Professor in Intelligent Networks at the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University. His research seeks innovative interdisciplinary solutions to address fundamental technical and design challenges in intelligent networks and cyber-physical systems and their applications. His research topics include the following disciplines: Dependable connectivity and distributed systems, distributed cloud and edge computing, connectivity resilience in cyber-physical systems and the IoT, applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence, cognitive communications networks, and cryptosystems. His research portfolio includes leading more than £2m research grants as the PI funded by EU and UK-based funding agencies. Prof. Navaie is on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and has been on the editorial board of IEEE Communications Survey and Tutorials and IEEE Communication Letters. Keivan is also a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems. He has also actively contributed to evidence-based policy-making through involvement with the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU), EU Environment Agency, Information Commissioner’s Office, and EU Parliament. He is also actively involved with the industry, providing technical consultancy to significant players in communication technology including HUAWEI, Dolby, BT, and several UK-based SMEs. Prof. Navaie is a Fellow of IET, a Chartered Engineer in the UK, and a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
