Biography
Hassan Nouri received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from the Universities of Nottingham, Strathclyde and Plymouth respectively. He worked as an electrical engineer at Wye Electronics Ltd, Chesterfield, UK and he has held the posts of Research Assistant, Research Officer, Postdoctoral, Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at various Universities in the UK.
Professor Nouri is currently a Reader in Electrical Power and Energy in the Department of Engineering, UK. He has over 30 years of involvement in academic life with the experience of departmental teaching, administration, and research in three UK Universities ( Plymouth, Bath, and UWE). He was Chairman of the European Electromagnetic User Group (2004-2010) and he has served as an advisor on numerous Electrical Power Engineering Journals. He is an Editorial board member of many International Journals and has acted as guest editor for the International Journal of Modeling, Identification and Control. Prof Nouri regularly contributes to international activities through the International Power Engineering conference organization and committee. He chaired and organized two IEEE sponsored international Conferences at UWE, in 2001 (EEUG: The European Electromagnetic User Group) and 2004 (UPEC2004: International Universities Power Engineering). His extensive research interests have spanned several areas including Power Systems Analysis, Power System modeling, Power Electronics, Electric Arc Modeling, Fault Locations, Power Quality and Electrical Technology. Applications have been in the traditional power industry and Renewable Power industry. Over the years, his research has been funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the European Union, the Royal Society, the British Council, and the Power Industry. Dr Nouri is the author of over 300 refereed technical publications and contributor to the "Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering- Volume 3" (John Wiley & Sons Inc, 1999) and "Engineering Superconductivity" (Wiley Inter-Science Press, 2001). In 2004 he has received the IEEE PES Chapter outstanding Engineer award in recognition of his service in Power Engineering Research and to the UKRI Chapter.
