Biography
Chair Professor at the School of Architecture, University of Seville. He has a Ph.D. in Architecture and Computer Simulation applied to historic settlements (2000), Ms. in Renewable Energies (1999) and Ms. Sc. in Architecture (1997). He has conducted research projects funded by the European Union in collaboration with Iberoamerican Universities (Mexico, Brazil, Peru), and has been Guest Researcher at Tsinghua University and Nanjing University in China, Kobe Design University and University of Shiga Prefecture in Japan, as well as Columbia University, California State University – Pomona (Los Angeles) and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in the USA. He has obtained a Certificate in Portuguese (level C1, The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - CEFR), Japanese (B1, CEFR) and Chinese (B1,CEFR) at the Language Institute of the University of Seville.
He is the author/co-author of six books,among them: ‘Ecological and Cultural Values of Traditional Architecture of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil’ (In Portuguese and Spanish, 2011), ‘The Spanish-American City from the Composition and the Environment’ (In Spanish, 2006) and ‘Development of Methods for Architectural Simulation. Application to Environmental Analysis of Historical Precedents’ (In Spanish, 2003). In addition, He is the author of more than twenty peer-review papers on the field of ecology in architecture and urban planning, as well as environmental analysis of historical settlements.
