Biography
Ahmed Ibrahim: received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electronics and communications engineering from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt, in 2006 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Manitoba (UoM) in MB, Canada in October 2016. He was a Faculty Member Teaching Assistant with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport then an Assistant Lecturer from during Sep. 2006-July.2011. He was a post-doctoral fellow and a senior per course instructor with the Memorial University of Newfoundland in NL, Canada, during Sep. 2016- Aug. 2019 and Sep. 2018-Dec. 2019 respectively. He taught courses in communication networks and wireless communications. During Jan.2020-Jan 2021, Dr. Ibrahim was a postdoctoral fellow at Carleton University in ON, Canada. On 01-Feb-2021, joined Ericsson R&D in Canada as a 5G Cloud RAN L1 systems developer. He has coauthored a book entitled Optimization Methods for User Admissions and Radio Resource Allocation for Multicasting over High Altitude Platforms published by River Publishers in February 2019. His research area covers, but is not limited to, AI enabled PHY, faster-than-Nyquist Signalling, radio resource allocation, cross-layer design and optimization, device-to-device communications, link adaptation, heterogeneous networks, backhauling using millimeter technology, network performance analysis, HAPS communications, wireless sensor networks, task offloading in mobile edge computing, visible light communications and physical layer security. Dr. Ibrahim received a Best Paper Award from the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC) in 2019. He received the IGSES and IGSS Scholarships from UoM. Dr. Ibrahim is currently an Associate Editor in the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society (IEEE OJ-COMS). He also serves as a Reviewer and a TPC Member in a number of IEEE journals and conferences, such as the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, the IEEE Communications Letters, the IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Access, IEEE JSTSP, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC and IEEE VTC. He was awarded as an Exemplary Reviewer of the IEEE Communications Letters journal in 2017.
