Biography
My interest in physiological interactions started during my first years of College. I started working in Prof. Dr Raul Marin’s research group in 2006 as an “ad-honorem” intern. In 2009, I obtained the Biology degree (Honours) from UNC, Argentina, and was recognized with two awards Merit in Academic Performance Recognition of Academic Achievement and The Highest Grades of Natural Sciences Degree. The results of my thesis for the Degree in Biology were published in Stress were published as my first scientific publication as the first author. I was admitted (01/04/2010) to the PhD program in Biological Sciences at the UNC under the supervision of Profs. Marin and Correa (both CONICET Senior Researchers). During my PhD, I focused on “The potential existence of immune-neuroendocrine phenotypes in avian species and its modulation by chronic stress situations” (the National University of Córdoba and Biological and Technological Research Institute). In 2010 and 2013, I obtained two competitive Graduated fellowships from CONICET to support my PhD work. I worked in collaboration with Dr Ana Dalcero and Alejandra Magnoli from Universidad Nacional de Río IV, Cordoba, Argentina, deepening my knowledge on poultry physiological stressors. In 2012 I was granted an international fellowship from the program “Strengthening of the Institutional and International Dimension between Universidad Nacional de Cordoba - Universidad Complutense de Madrid”, from September 15th to December 16th. The stay was extended for two months due to the productive interaction with Prof. Inma Estevez at Neiker (Basque-Country) which led to two high impact scientific publications. On 01/04/2015, I was awarded the best postdoctoral fellowship granted by the Argentinian Government to be developed at the Centre of Clinical Biochemistry Research (CIBICI). My profile has led me to work in very competitive institutions in collaboration with recognized professionals: Prof. Silvia Correa CONICET-UNC (Cordoba, Argentina), Prof. Inma Estevez at Neiker (Vitoria, Basque Country), Dr Alfredo Toraño and Dr Mercedez Dominguez at Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Madrid, Spain) and Prof. Linda Keeling at The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala, Sweden). I have been awarded the best Argentinian research grants for a scientist my age. I have supervised four MSc projects with that founding. I am currently a co-supervisor for four ongoing PhDs Theses, one of which is in collaboration with Prof. Keeling. I have been invited to serve as a reviewer for 10 indexed journals and invited as a guest speaker to Conferences in well-known universities/institutes (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spain), National University of Saint Luis (Argentina), and Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto (Argentina)). I have always been interested in knowledge transfer. I have taught during the last 10 years at the National University of Cordoba, having obtained a tenured professor position in 2013. I have complementarily developed the Pedagogical path for teacher affiliation and have taken part in numerous events to bring science and its results closer to the public. I have developed a multifaceted experience portfolio, from physiology to molecular biology. My career has been multi-institutional, helping consolidate a solid national and international reputation.
