Biography

Full Professor in the Disciplinary Area of Architecture at the University of Beira Interior - Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering.
Aggregation exams in Architecture, Specialty of Theory and Practice of Project, by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, in 2019.
PhD in Architecture by the Faculty of Architecture - UL in 2008, thesis entitled "Villeggiatura and Place in Portuguese Architecture".
Architect by the Faculty of Architecture - UTL in 1992. Author of Architecture design projects and buildings since 1992. Has received several prizes in Architecture public competitions, with consequent built work.
Integrated member of CIAUD (Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design / University of Beira Interior Hub). Coordinator of the research group “ARCPLAND [Architecture - Place - Landscape]”: Research Group in Architecture, Place and Landscape, whose mission is to promote and conduct research in Architecture and Landscape Architecture, in the fields of Architectural Design, Theory, History, Sustainability, and its relationship with Place, the Heritage and Landscape.
Author of the books: "The Suburban Villa in Portugal - Villeggiatura, Place and Architecture" (2013); "The Renaissance Suburban Villa - Architecture, Gardens and Landscape. A multidisciplinary vision of the spaces and experiences of the Renaissance-designed leisure Villa" (2016); "Renaissance and Mannerist Suburban Villas and Manor Houses: Évora, Azeitão, Sintra" (2019) e "Renaissance and Mannerist Suburban Villas and Manor Houses: Lisbon, Tomar, Coimbra, Porto" (2019) e "Amílcar Gil Pires - Places, Architectural Design Projects, Works" (2022).

Membro integrado do CIAUD (Centro de Investigação em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design / Polo da Universidade da Beira Interior). Coordenador do grupo de investigação ARCPLAND [Architecture - Place - Landscape] - Grupo de Investigação em Arquitetura, Lugar e Paisagem, que tem por missão promover e realizar investigação em Arquitetura e Arquitetura Paisagista, nos âmbitos do Projeto, Teoria, História, Sustentabilidade, e sua relação com o Lugar, com o Património e com a Paisagem.
Autor dos livros: "A Quinta de Recreio em Portugal - Vilegiatura, Lugar e Arquitetura" (2013); "A Villa Renascentista - Arquitetura, Jardins e Paisagem.
