Biography

Dr. Nektarios N. Lathiotakis is a researcher (Director of Research) at the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry Institute, National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece. His expertise lies in the theory of the electronic structure of materials, specifically in the development of Density and Density matrix functional methods and their application to finite (molecular) and periodic systems, like 2D materials and metal oxides.
Dr Lathiotakis studied at the Physics Department of the University of Crete, (PhD in condensed matter physics, 01/1997). He subsequently held post-doctoral positions at the University of Bristol, UK (Physics Dept, 1997-2000), University of Wuerzburg, DE (Physics Dept. 2000-2001), and Freie Universitaet Berlin (Physics Dept. 2001-2007). Since 2007, he has been a researcher at the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry Institute, National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens Greece, currently serving as a Director of Research (research professor).
