Biography
He was born in Samsun in 1962. He graduated from Samsun Anatolian High School in 1980, Gazi University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations in 1985, and completed his master's degree in Istanbul University, Social Sciences Institute. In 1995, he received his Doctorate from the same institution with his thesis titled "National and International Level Ethnic Groups and the State". He worked as a Research Assistant at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics since 1991 and as Assistant Professor between 1995 and 2005 at the same institution. Levent Ürer, who became an Associate Professor in the field of Political History in 2005, received the title of Professor in the Department of Political Science at Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics in 2013. He retired in 2014. He worked at Beykent University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration between 2014-2020. He worked at Istinye University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration until 2020-March 2022. He is still working at Istanbul Aydın University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration. İ.Ü. He served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and the Head of the Department of Political Science between 2005-2013. He held different administrative positions at Beykent University, such as Vice Rector, Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication between 2014-2016.
He has lectured on Turkish Foreign Policy, Political History, History of Political Events, Political Science, International Relations, International Migration and Population Movements, Nationalism and Minority Rights. He has books called Minorities and Lausanne Debates (2003), Turkish Foreign Policy from Mondros to Mudanya Armistice (2005), Debates on Nationalism from the Social State to the Social State (2012), and "Being a Roman and Staying a Gypsy", which he compiled in 2012. He has several articles published in the fields of nationalism, minority rights, political science, sociology of history.
