Biography
I'm an Optometrist, Researcher and Senior Lecturer with clinical interests in paediatric optometry/chronic eye disease/low vision, and research interests in clinical research and public health. I am also the current Optometry Programme Lead for the University of the West of England.
I was awarded my PhD for my thesis titled "An investigation of the effect of long-term anti-VEGF therapy on retinal function and structure in people with neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration" which I completed as part of the David Crabb Lab at City, University of London. This research was funded by the College of Optometrists.
My most recent research projects were two public/population health projects, both using a mixed methods approach. The first is examining acute eye conditions in primary and secondary care where we are investigating the unmet need to better understand each of the different providers of urgent eye care. The second is an evaluation of pilot schemes for community-based eye care services designed to alleviate progressively unsustainable pressures on hospital ophthalmology outpatient services. This project was funded by WEFO.
