Biography

Marcelo Andrade da Costa Vieira is Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC). He graduated in electrical engineering at EESC/USP in 1996, took a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at EESC/USP in 1999 and a PhD in Electrical Engineering at EESC/USP in 2005. Conducts research in the area of medical imaging and computer vision, mainly in the following subjects: digital mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, image processing, image restoration, denoising, noise modeling, noise simulation for medical images, radiation dose reduction, artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, deep learning and computer aided diagnosis (CAD) systems.
