Biography
Dr. Li-Hsun PENG is an associate professor at the Graduate School & Department of Creative Design, YunTech. He is hosting the Visual Culture Design Research Unit and researching the history of design, targeting four women designers and their achievements in the Art Decor Era and conducting comparison research on investigating these women designers' marginality and on their identities. Through his comparison research, he
hopes that a Formosan should be able to challenge through appropriating the West elements and enrich our content from the East.
In recent years, he has directed the masters and doctoral students on revitalizing the Aborigines and tribal culture in Taiwan through direct participation and design empowerment. By using the field survey interviews and meeting the design needs of the tribe, let the students recognize Taiwan as the pivotal status of Austronesian culture. Such personal experience and efforts to solve the needs of the tribe will help the students.
Through an early understanding of the community's needs, appreciation of the Aboriginal culture, and identifying in-depth issues. It will be our new opportunity to establish ourselves in Taiwan and look into international cooperation.
