Biography
Dr Ljilja Torović is a full professor at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia). Dr Torović gained a BSc in 1995, an MSc in 1999, and a PhD in 2004 at the University of Novi Sad (Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry). In 2011, she completed a specialisation in food analysis at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Pharmacy. She was trained by world-leading authorities on food safety, including the European Commission (Better Training on Safer Food, BTSF), the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), the Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). She is a Center for Medical and Pharmaceutical Investigation and Quality Control (CEMPHIC) research team member. Her main research field is risk and benefit assessment of foods in relation to human health, comprising a broad spectrum of food bioactives, toxicants and contaminants. She participated in 10 scientific projects, including the MSCA-RISE project, which were funded by national and international institutions. She published 57 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 700 citations. She is a member of the Executive Council of the Serbian Nutrition Society and Head of the Commission for Methods of Analysis of Food at the Standardization Institute of Serbia
