Biography
I am a Project Lead at Nokia Bell Labs, where I have been leading research and development activities related to AI/ML for 5G/5GA systems for over eight years. I have a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, one of the top-ranked universities in Portugal and the world. My main research focus is on applying AI/ML approaches to network analytics, network data analytics function (NWDAF), and network performance in 5G and beyond.
I have also designed, developed, and maintained a cutting-edge network-level simulator for 5G and 5G-A technologies, enabling accurate testing and validation of network functionalities. I have collaborated with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and timely updates of the simulator, supporting various business units in optimizing their operations and decision-making processes. I have published multiple papers and patents on AI/ML for 5G systems, covering topics such as multi-RAT mobility, near real-time RAN intelligent controller, and network function virtualization. I have also participated in EU 5G projects and activities, such as 5G NORMA and 5G MoNArch, contributing to the standardization and innovation of 5G technologies.
I have extensive experience and skills in Matlab, Visual C++, Visual C#, and FPGA programming. I am passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in AI/ML for 5G systems and creating solutions that can improve the quality and efficiency of wireless communications. I am always eager to learn new technologies and methods, and to collaborate with other experts and stakeholders in the field. I am proud to be part of Nokia Bell Labs, a world-renowned research organization that fosters a culture of excellence and innovation.
