Biography

Full Professor of the Department of Education and the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Federal University of São Carlos. He holds a degree in Psychology from the University of São Paulo (1989), a Master's degree in Education from the Federal University of São Carlos (1993), a PhD in Education from the State University of Campinas (1998), with a Doctoral Internship at the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University, Germany (DAAD Scholarship - German Academic Exchange Service.
Post-Doctorates in Philosophy of Education from the University of Leipzig, Germany, with CAPES and FAPESP scholarships, Psychology of Education from the University of York, England, with FAPESP and CAPES scholarships, and Sociology of Education from the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University, Germany, with CAPES/PRINT scholarship. He was Head of the Department of Education at UFSCar from August 2000 to September 2002 and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Education at UFSCar from December 2010 to August 2011.
From September 2011 to May 2013 he was vice-coordinator of the same graduate program. He received several resources from FAPESP, such as research grants, book publishing grants, scientific initiation grants, master's, doctorate, post-doctorate grants and grants for holding international conferences.
He was Coordinator of the 24 Scientific Committees of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPED) from October 2010 to October 2012. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal: "Educação e Sociedade" (CEDES/UNICAMP) and member of the editorial board of the journal "Pädagogische Korrespondenz" (Frankfurt am Main, Germany).
He received the honorable mention award, referring to the 5th. ABEU Award 2019 (event promoted by the Brazilian Association of University Presses), Human Sciences category, for the publication of the book: "Publish, appear or perish: academic productivism, administered research and plagiarism in the times of digital culture", which was written in partnership with Lucídio Bianchetti and Obdália Ferraz and published by Edufba.
He has been a CNPq research fellow since 2003, an advisor to FAPESP since 2000 and to CAPES since 2012. From January 2014 to March 2015, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Education of the University of York, England, through the Exchange Programs with Research Groups Abroad promoted by FAPESP (BPE) and the Senior Internship Abroad program promoted by CAPES. From March to August 2020, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Education of the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany, through the Senior Internship Abroad program promoted by CAPES. He is an alternate member of the Technical-Scientific Council of CEDES/UNICAMP.
He was the coordinator of the research project: "REMOTE LEARNING IN THE ERA OF UBIQUITOUS COMPUTING: comparative analysis of the educational processes of Brazilian and German university students in times of COVID-19" (2022-2024), which was part of the "UN-Research Roadmap COVID-19" call, under an agreement established between the United Nations (UN) and FAPESP.
He has published several articles in Scielo indexed journals, with 240 thousand and 108 downloads.
He has experience in the area of ​​Education, with an emphasis on Philosophy of Education, working mainly on the following topics: Cyberbullying against teachers, Artificial intelligence, digital technologies and education, Cell phones in the classroom, Critical Theory and education, Hazing in universities.
