Biography
Paulo Carvalho (PhD in Geography) is associate professor at the Department of Geography and Tourism, Faculty of Arts of University of Coimbra (DGT-UCoimbra), and integrated researcher at the Centre for Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT), Universities of Coimbra and Porto. At the DGT-UCoimbra, is member of the Scientific Committee and assistant dean of the Master's degree in Tourism, Territory and Heritage. He also is author (or co-author) of two and a half hundred scientific publications (with emphasis on cultural heritage, spatial planning, rural development, mountain environments, leisure and tourism); advised six dozen dissertations/theses already completed; and coordinated three dozen specialized services. At present develops research focused in geography of tourism, with special attention to protected natural areas, gardens, walking and/or cycling trails, and railways.
