Sibel Demirarslan

Biography

Having completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at MSGSÜ (MSÜ) Faculty of Architecture and her Ph.D. at Yıldız Technical University, she initially worked as a freelance architect and later as the Chief of the Permit Department at the Municipality. Subsequently, she held administrative positions at Kocaeli University, Directorate of Construction Affairs. She successfully passed the examination and prerequisites within the scope of the World Bank-YÖK project, receiving pedagogical training both at Bilkent University and subsequently at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, where she served as a faculty member.She continues her career as an academic staff member at Kocaeli University. Throughout her professional career, she has received architectural design awards for buildings and other designs she either conceived or executed during her time in freelance practice or within the KOÜ framework. She has attended certified training programs and workshops on various topics. Additionally, she holds a bachelor's degree from Anadolu University, Faculty of Business Administration and also a bachelor's degree from Atatürk University, Faculty of Sociology.

She remains engaged in scientific and academic research, teaching undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses, as well as supervising theses. She also holds administrative duties. Her research interests span a wide range of topics, including culture, quality, legislation, occupational safety, religious structures, sustainability, universal design, urban morphology, urbanization, architectural design, building science, materials, structural engineering, and building services. Moreover, she is knowledgeable in philosophical subjects such as artificial intelligence, modern technology, and phenomenology. She believes in the necessity of comprehensive understanding for success in environmental, architectural, and building design. She has supervised numerous master's theses. She has actively participated in numerous international and national conferences through oral presentations, full-text papers, poster presentations, and moderator roles, being honored with moderator duties. She has published numerous articles in international and national journals and contributed chapters to international books, book, serving as an editor for books and as a reviewer for journals. She is a recipient of a research science award.
