Biography
Medicine Degree at Universitat de Barcelona (1996) and Doctor in Public Health and Methodology of the Biomedical Research by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2002). Currently working as Research Professor and Head of the Non-Communicable Diseases & Environment Research Programme at ISGlobal; Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Her research focuses on determinants of chronic respiratory disease (asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)) development and prognosis in children and adults, the definition and subtype characterization of these conditions and the use of advanced epidemiological methods (machine learning, causal methods).
She has conducted pioneering research on the role of physical activity in asthma and COPD, which merited several national and international awards, and is the coordinator of large multicentre national and international studies in respiratory epidemiology.
She has published over 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and has served in several expert committees tasked with developing international policies on pulmonary rehabilitation and in national research evaluation committees.
She has ongoing close collaborations and projects with European researchers on physical activity and pulmonary rehabilitation as well as strategic alliances in the areas of COPD and asthma epidemiology, as well as epidemiological methods.
