Biography
Odireleng Martin Ntwaeaborwa is a Professor of Physics and Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Science at Sol Plaatje University. He is a visting professor at the University of the Witwarsrand (South Africa). He received his PhD degree from the University of the Free State in 2006. He has served in many capacities with the South African Nanotechnology Initiative (SANi) including President in 2012 – 2016. He served as a Deputy Dean of the Southern African Young Scientists Summer Programme in 2012 – 2015 that was co-organized by the South African Ministry of Science and Technology and the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). He was a director of the Unesco-Twas Centre of Excellence for the advancement of science in developing countries from 2012-2015. Prof Ntwaeaborwa is a B-rated South African National Research Foundation (NRF) researcher, and he has received numerous awards including research excellence awards from the University of the Free State in 2004 and 2010, young investigator awards from the South African National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) and the American Vacuum Society (AVS) in 2009 and 2010 respectively. He has published more than 275 articles, over 100 conference proceedings ,7 book chapters, and 1 edited book. He is a regular reviewer for IOP, AIP, Wiley, ACS, RCS, Springer and Elsevier journals. In addition, he is a regular reviewer of funding proposals of the NRF, including serving in the NRF rating panel of Physics specialist group. Prof Ntwaeaborwa’s research interests are surface science and powders and thin films of optoelectrionic nanomaterials applied to solid state lighting, solar cells and gas sensors.
