Biography
Slavic scholar and expert in inter- and transdisciplinary research including Art History, Cultural Studies, Digital Humanities and the Social and Economic Sciences.
In his current research project Dr. Thomas Skowronek focuses on the interdependencies between grammar, rhetorics, and poetics on the one hand and governmental practices like taxation and accounting on the other hand in late medieval Russia. The final result will be a book about the history and theory of philology from the perspective of administration, culture, and governmentality at the threshold to the modern period. In his other recent field of research he takes a deeper look at the rhetorics, poetics, and politics of digital transformations and concomittant promises of knowledge gain and optimization. Furthermore, Dr. Thomas Skowronek has acquired a thorough knowledge in the interrelationsships between literature, culture and the arts as well as the economy and technologies of government, from antiquity to the present. In the recent past, he has also shown research interest in racism as well as similar power structures and acts of epistemological violence in academia that constitute discrimination.
In addition to his research expertise, Dr. Thomas Skowronek has acquired professional knowledge as a research data manager and is currently completing his Master of Public Administration degree at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer.
