Biography

My research is focused on how individual experience impacts cognitive systems and their development. More specifically, I am interested in self-monitoring behavior and its component cognitive systems and examining how the development of this system translates into other aspects of a child’s life; in particular, the manifestation of psychopathology but also learning and broader self-regulation. It is my hope that by combining neural and behavioral approaches, my research will enable a better understanding of the role of this system in children’s and adolescent’s mental health, as well as how it enables a child to establish their autonomy and meet the self-regulatory requirements of adulthood.
