Biography
Tiago J. Ferreira received his Master’s degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering in 2017 at NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA. In October 2023, he concluded his PhD in Sustainable Chemistry also at NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA. Tiago J. Ferreira has published 7 peer-reviewed articles in international journals (all as first/co-first author), a h-index of 5, and a total number of citations of 140, according to the Scopus database. Moreover, he has 19 communications in scientific meetings (11 oral, 8 poster), being distinguished with Best Poster Award at the 2023 (online) Baltic Chemistry Conference, and has been a lab supervisor of 2 MSc students and 5 undergraduate students.
Main research interests include:
1) Synthesis of ionic liquids (ILs) for different fields of research.
2) Development and characterization of smart, tuneable materials, namely composites that include ILs and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in their structure (IL@MOF).
3) Evaluation of the performance of IL@MOF composites for gas sorption applications, with a focus on IL-related effects (cationic structure, anionic structure, and impregnated loading).
4) Carbonization of IL-, MOF-, and IL@MOF-based precursors and evaluation of the produced carbons as adsorbent materials for gas separation.
5) Preparation and characterization of mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) with ILs, MOFs, IL@MOF composites, and their derived carbon materials as fillers for gas separation.
