Biography
Junior Postdoctoral Researcher (CNPq) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). PhD in Microbiology (2023) from UFMG. He was a postdoctoral abroad (PDE/CNPq, 2024) and PhD visitor (CAPES/PrInt, 2022), both at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Biomedical Scientist with major in clinical analysis (2017) and Master's in Microbiology (2020), both from UFMG. He was a scientific advisor at the company ECO Diagnóstica LTDA, focusing on COVID-19 diagnosis (2020). He was also a technical fellow in the coordination of the Technological Platforms Network (RPT) of the René Rachou Institute (IRR) - FIOCRUZ Minas (2020). Currently is an affiliated member of the Center for Discovery and Innovation in Parasitic Diseases (CDIPD) at UCSD. He has experience in molecular modeling, structural biology, and medicinal chemistry, in addition to biological evaluations of compounds in viruses, bacteria, and mammalian cells, as well as enzyme activity inhibition assays. He demonstrates interest in the discovery and development of antimicrobial drug candidates, in addition to the mechanisms of action and associated resistance profiles. Works employing computational simulations to the design and discovery of bioactive molecules and their experimental validation in vitro, as in the search for antiviral candidates against flaviviruses and coronaviruses.
