Biography
Dr. Anine Crous is a NRF Y rated senior lecturer and researcher at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa associated with the Laser Research Centre and Faculty of Health Sciences' Department of Biomedical Sciences. The researcher studies photodynamic treatment (PDT), photobiomodulation (PBM), stem cells, cancer stem cells (CSCs), and gold nanoparticle antibody conjugates. Dr. Crous has over 30 publications including articles, chapters, and proceedings. Dr. Crous peer reviews for numerous top international scientific journals. Her Scopus H-index is 9. Additionally, her Google Scholar h-index is 10. She co-supervised two master's students who graduated with honours. Additionally, Dr. Crous supervises three doctoral students and one Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Dr. Crous has received postgraduate scholarships from the NRF, CANSA, and SARChI, as well as a collaboration grant from the African Laser Centre. Dr. Crous also received an NRF Scare Skills Postdoctoral Fellowship. In 2022, she was named a rising leader scholar in Industrial Psychology and People Management. Dr. Crous has presented her research at 14 national and international conferences. Dr. Crous is a member of several prestigious academic organisations, including OSA, WALT, ISSCR, SASBMB, SPIE, and SACNASP. Additionally, she received Postdoctoral Fellows Research Excellence Awards in 2020 and 2021, the ISSCR 2021 Zhongmei Chen Young Awards for Scientific Excellence, and the University of Johannesburg Faculty of Health Sciences Top Achievers Award in 2020. She was awarded a Postdoctoral Certificate of Excellence from the Laser Research Centre in 2020 and worldwide poster presentation honours. Dr. Crous received the Top Achievers Doctoral Award in 2019 for his remarkable achievements. In 2018, she was a finalist in the University of Johannesburg Three Minute Thesis Competition and won the cross-faculty 2-minute dissertation competition in 2016.
