Biography
Martina Blečić Kavur graduated in archaeology and history from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb, where she also obtained a master's degree in prehistoric archaeology. She defended her doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. She works at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Education, where she teaches archaeology of the Bronze and Iron Ages, prehistoric art and visual arts theory. She is the recipient of several scholarships for scientific and professional training abroad and was a scholarship holder at the Freie Universität in Berlin in 2003/2004 and 2005, at the University of Belgrade in 2017 and the University of St Cyril and Methodius in Skopje in 2023. Likewise, she has taught at numerous universities at home and abroad and realised a series of international exhibitions in 7 countries. She participated in congresses and meetings at home and abroad, presenting and publishing numerous scientific results. Throughout her scientific career, she has published more than 250 papers and has been actively involved in various national and international scientific projects. She has been the leader of 6 national and bilateral projects and is currently leading the international project Osor beyond the Myth and the ERC KS project From Sea to Sea: Continuity and Changes between the Bronze and Iron Age on the territory between the Adriatic and the Pannonian plain. She is a laureate of the Prize for Scientific Excellence of the University of Primorska.
