Biography

Dulce Valdez Madrid is currently in her third year as a Ph.D. candidate at Ghent University and is also an Early Stage Researcher affiliated with the MSCA project 'SUBLime'. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Technological Institute of Monterrey, followed by a Master's degree in Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage from Sapienza University of Rome and a Master's degree in Archaeology and Environment from the University of Évora. Her current research focuses on the analysis and 3D characterization of lime-based mortars, examining how they are impacted by salt crystallization and their resulting damage. Her interests extend to the study of weathering in contemporary building materials and the deterioration of historical sites and monuments.
