Biography

Dr. Shubhada Shenai holds PhD degree in Applied biology from university of Mumbai. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University, Newark, NJ, USA. She is specialized clinical microbiologist, with specific expertise in the field of molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases and antimicrobial susceptibility testing, expert in BSL3, TB containment and molecular diagnostic lab designing, assay development for molecular diagnosis of MDR and XDR TB, genome sequencing, QA, lab biosafety etc. She is recipient of multiple awards (including 3 gold medals) in her academic life with strong publication and presentation record. She has published one book chapter and 35 papers in peer review journals like New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Nature Medicine, Nature Chemical Biology, Journal of Clinical Microbiology (JCM) and International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IJTLD), Petc.

Dr Shubhada Shenai is currently working as a medical officer at FIND, India and she is involved in multiple projects like - designing & development of diagnostic labs for TB, COVID 19 RT PCR, HIV-TB, AMR etc., strengthening NTEP TB lab network in India, conducting clinical trials for evaluation of new TB, Malaria, COVID -19 diagnostics, capacity building by developing online & E-training program for TB / COVID diagnostics and sequencing, etc.

Prior joining FIND she worked as Application support specialist with Lab India Healthcare and as a Research Scientist at Rutgers NJMS, Rutgers University, Newark, NJ, USA.
