Biography

Dr. Rodrigo Medeiros Martorano is adjunct Professor of Microbiology, Immunology and Pharmacology at Federal University of Acre (UFAC) - Forest Campus, located in Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre, Brazil, an important and endemic area for malaria in Brazil. As a malaria researcher, Dr. Martorano is an expert in basic research, focusing on the molecular, pathological and clinical aspects of Plasmodium spp. infections. Dr. Martorano is head of the Infectious Diseases of the Western Amazon laboratory (LabDINAMO). He graduated in Pharmacy - Clinical Analysis at Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in 2005. He ontained his PhD degree at University of São Paulo, Brazil, after studying the impact of Plasmodium spp on the placenta of pregnant women in an endemic area for malaria in Brazil.
