Biography
Birgit Ulrike Münch specializes in late medieval and early modern Northern art. Her interests include Renaissance and Baroque Paintings and Prints (primarily Northern and Southern Netherlands, Germany and France), Illness and Art from the Late Middle Ages up to Long Covid, Art in the Era of confessionalization, the history of the body and sexuality (e.g. "Dwarfs" at Court 1300-1800), the "trinity" of gender, race and class, the social history of the female artist, exhibitions and global art collections, illustrated books (15th-18th century), Proverb images, the birth of genre paintings and its art theory.
